The Pumi stand was very busy over the two days of Discover Dogs. Being a new breed approved by the Kennel Club we had a surprise visit from Prince Michael of Kent! Our thanks goes to Jon Caines with ‘Steiff’ for manning the stand on Saturday and to Michelle Smee with ‘Bolt’ and ‘Nova’ (pictured above) on Sunday. The Pumi stand was very busy over the two days resulting in the club receiving many inquiries for more information and prospective litters
The Club will be at Discover Dogs on all 4 days of Crufts. If you have a well socialised Pumi and would like to help on one of the days contact Lesley Caines : firstname.lastname@example.org
We have several events planned, including a Hungarian Extravaganza, which will hopefully be a repeat of a very successful fun day we held in June 2016, in conjunction with The Hungarian Puli Club of GB and The Komondor Club. It is hoped to arrange this event for June 2017. We will have a stand at Discover Dogs both at the Excel Centre in in London in October and at Crufts (Birmingham NEC) in March and will be holding a breed seminar sometime in the spring. You will be kept informed of all the events.
This is a fantastic opportumity to pet the dogs and find out about the breed. The Hungarian Pumi Club UK will be there both days.
When: The show is open from 10.00am to 5.00pm each day.
Pumi Stand: number 94

The club would like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped us on the stand over the four days. It was a hugely successful four days for the breed with many enquiries from show, pet and agility enthusiasts.
Chairman Jacki Evans:
“I have been trying, all day to think of what to write about the Seminar and Judges assesment day the Hungarian Pumi Club UK ran yesterday. The same word keeps coming up. Wow!
It was some time in the planning, we wanted to get it just right and judging by the comments of people attending, we did just that. So many turned out to listen to Elina Haappaniemi talk on the breed in general, its development in Europe over the years and the Breed Standard.
Elina is a well known and …highly respected judge who spoke with knowledge and humour and all through her presentation her understanding, respect and love for the Pumi shone through. I have attend any number of breed seminars over the last 40 odd years and this one ranks up there at the top. Elina was assisted by Mike Gilchrist who spoke on the way the import register breeds are moving forward in the UK and what else needs to be done.
The morning finished with question time, during which several Pumis were brought in to talk to and receive cuddles from those attending. We followed up with lunch after which those judges who had booked to do the hands on and assessment settled down to an afternoon of the serious stuff.
The places for the assessment were taken up several months back and there is already a list of people who are waiting to do the next one. Luckily Elina is very happy to come over again, so a date is already being looked at. All in all, a very successful, informative and fun day. As I said Wow! Thanks to all those who attended, it was good to put familiar names to faces!”
